Computers these days can be compared with new cars - depreciate as soon as you walk through the door with them. Even if you decide to spring for the Tablet PC be rest assured that within six months it will be yesterday's news.

So how do you decide to keep what you have and try to improve it, or simply the difference and get a new computer or a laptop? A good rule of thumb is, if the cost of improving your computer exceeds the cost of a new, buy a new one. But here are some reasons why you should upgrade or replace the computer.

First Your needs are changing - the computer that you had as a student can not work when you enter a new career. Your laptop is a reflection of you and you may need to get a slimmer model, just to show that you are not late in the office.

2nd Career Change - If you leave your job to an editorial position in the graphic arts, you will probably need a computer with a good video card.

3. The new software - keep up with the latest software, you need speed, advanced graphics. Newer software does not work on older operating systems or can work less efficiently.

Fourth system crash, virus - Sometimes the most effective way to get rid of frequent crashes and viruses is to get a new computer.

5. Broken component damage - Repair broken screens, hard drives, CD-DVD Writer or water damage, which could cost more than replacing the entire system.

6th Too Slow - A slow system may require more memory. Adding memory is a popular upgrade that could cost less than $100.

7. Need for greater productivity - If the old system is slowing the work it is time to upgrade your computer. New software for word processing or image processing can be expensive. If the new system has pre-loaded software, it may be the best solution.

8. Reduced costs - computers are faster and cheaper than five years ago. If your system has more than five years, probably it will not be wise to pay for upgrading individual components, such as memory, hard disk and monitor.

9. Extraordinary maintenance - repair costs exceed the cost of a new computer, it's time to buy a new one.

10th "IT" Factor - If your job is very concerned about their image, it may not pay to be the one with the dull sound old when the new models have all the fancy new technology and look. It can improve your image , if you have new computer equipment.
